BeautyBlender The Detailers

I know I must be the last person on the planet to try the BeautyBlender but I’m so glad it finally happened *throws glitter*

For years I’ve heard about this wondrous tool that makes makeup application flawless and natural but wasn’t sure if it was all just hype. A friend of a friend was kind enough to send me not only the original pink BeautyBlender, but also their new limited edition Detailers Brush Set…. and I couldn’t be more pleased.

Manicure Monday: Pronto Purple

It’s Monday and that means it’s back to work mode, which for me is quite hectic and a bit daunting. I recently decided to try and create positive associations with things that I don’t necessarily look forward to….like a jam-packed schedule.

So to combat my Monday blues, I gave myself a nice manicure on Sunday evening because I absolutely LOVE when my nails are done. There’s something about perfectly polished nails tapping on a keyboard that just makes it a bit easier to get work done. A good mani is also a quick and inexpensive way to “accessorize” your look.

Inspired by my good friend and blogger MiMi of Lipgloss and Binky I decided to start a Manicure Monday feature where I’ll share some of my favorite colors

This week I’m rocking Purple Pronto by Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. I’ve blogged about this brand of polish before and I still highly recommend it for those who don’t have time to wait for polish to dry. Because it is a quick dry polish you have to be fairly quick with the application. This is also a “less is more” polish. I topped the mani off with the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat which leaves a great shine. I know the line is available at Target and I’m sure it’s also available at most other drug stores.

Any other great drugstore polishes you’d care to share?

We’re on Youtube!

Growing up as an only child, playing in makeup was an activity that I could do all by myself….so I would play for HOURS. I’ve always admired makeup artist professionals and secretly wished I had taken up the profession as a career. For now I’ll just play at home and record videos :-)

P.S. I know its super long…I’m working on my editing skills

Nail Files: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Mint Sprint

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to experiment more with beauty products and I chose nail polish as my thing.  I’ve decided to pick a new color every month and this month’s color is Mint Sprint from the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Collection.

This is the first product I’ve ever purchased from this brand and I was particularly drawn to their claim that the polish dries in 60 seconds. I was quite skeptical as it normally takes my nails hours to dry COMPLETELY.

So here’s my Product Review

Price: $3.59 great value

Color: It’s a really green, green which I like….helps brighten these dreary end of spring days

Quality: Good, I’ve been wearing the polish for 7 days and no chips

Consistency: I only needed 1 coat and I’m almost always a 2-coat girl

Brush: The brush design really allows you to get the sides of the nail without painting your finger.

Overall Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this product. I used a base coat so the polish didn’t dry completely in 60 seconds but it did dry completely within 10 minutes. The only drawback being the color selection is not as extensive as I would like.
